The Frost Has Gone

For the time being the Snow and Frost have gone and I have noticed in my garden the new shoots of Spring so to speak, bulbs growth is now breaking through along with new shoots on other plants. The bad weather so far has taken it's toll on our roads and I am pretty certain that to catch up with  repairs will  take rather a long time especially if we have a repeat of the bad weather we experienced before and after Christmas. The one problem I suspect is how all these repairs are to be paid for bearing in mind the cuts to Local Government Spending. Already there are signs that across the country budget cuts will affect road maintenance, I suspect this may well become an issue in the forthcoming local elections.

Musings as we go into 2011

I suspect for those of us in Local Politics, 2011 is going to be a difficult year as the cuts start to bite!! No doubt everybody will be blaming everybody else and there will be a great deal of ducking and divIng, especially by those members of the last  Government who would have us believe that they are whiter than white and it is those terrible Bankers who have caused all the financial problems.
Why didn't the Labour Government see the problems coming and do something about it? or is that too simplistic?  We shall just have to grit our teeth and get on with it and hope that at least we have a Government that is not afraid to take unpopular decisions in the interest of the Country and our long term future..

Happy New Year to One and All.
